Charles was raised Roman Catholic which he found to have a negative impact on his over all well being. He then sought out spirituality in Wicca and Indigenous Spirituality before finding his home in Theravada Buddhism. He found Buddhism to improve his mental health and well being. For this reason he is dedicated to educating others on it and support those who are in suffering. Charles was ordained as a novice monk for a summer by Ven. Dhammo. He offers counselling services and holistic healing at his business Inner Peace Counselling, in Stoney Creek, Ontario. He teaches the Dharma on Sunday's to children at Wat Khmer Krom Buddhist Temple and is and administrative assistant and attendant to Ven. Dhammo.
Charles Chiarelli is a graduate student at the University of Toronto in Buddhist Pastoral Studies (Spiritual Care) and Psychotherapy. He is a Ontario Certified Teacher. He is a former secondary school teacher and post secondary instructor.
Charles is dedicated to assisting and supporting the Khmer community in Hamilton and sponsors a teenage girl in Cambodia named Veasna.
Charles was born in Canada with Italian heritage. He acquired an Honours B.A. in Society, Culture and the Environment with minors in Psychology, World Religions and Cultures and Children's Education and Development. He also has completed a Diploma in Arts and Sciences, a Bachelor of Education, a Certificate in Peer Support Mental Health Counselling and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Buddhist Mindfulness and Mental Health. He has travelled to Cambodia to see the ancient temples of Angkor, the Royal Palace and the Killing Fields/ Monument from the Khmer Rouge genocide. He travelled to Shanghai, China and visited Mahayana Buddhist temples. This included the Jade Buddha Temple and the Jiang'an Temple. He then went to Hong Kong's Lantau Island to see the Po Lin Monastery and the large Buddha Shakyamuni statue. More Buddhist trips to Asia are in plan.
